I want to talk about overcoming your fear of your own greatness or success. In life, we have dreams and goals that we set for ourselves that we look to accomplish. A lot of times we end up sabotaging ourselves due to our fear. This is not uncommon, whenever you get into a situation and get overwhelmed by the level of success, the more success that is at stake, the more fear you show. You tend to have a level of responsibility and you don’t want to walk into it but as 2020 has introduced to us, we have a clear vision as to what we don’t want. Walking into 2021, it’s all about having a mindset with confidence and doing things that you need to do.
One thing I learned is the importance of breathing and having confidence in yourself. Your breath allows you to create space to allow yourself to live in your greatness. I’ve learned from my experiences, we take our breath for granted and we forget that it’s the one thing that we always have. You breathe when you work out, walk, talk, and just sitting and reading like you are right now. You are continually breathing and we aren’t mindful of our breath until it is taken away from us or we have shortness of breath. I want to remind you that whenever you feel that you’re walking into greatness or success, you need to inhale, hold it, and exhale letting all the air out.
Walking into 2021, you need to have the mindset that you are successful and that you are great. Don’t have the mindset that you’re going to be successful or that you’re going to be great, you need to claim that now and speak it into existence. You need to see yourself being successful and see yourself being great and be mindful of how you’re going to feel when you are great and successful. How are you going to feel entering into greatness? Are you going to be shy? Are you going to say “Oh no, that’s not really me?” Be the version of yourself that’s going to be great and say “I am successful,” because this is always how I’ve felt and now it’s time for you to live like that. I want you to go into 2021 with the mindset that there’s nothing that’s going to stop me from accomplishing the things I wanna accomplish in my life. When we were kids, we’ve always been told to use our imagination, dream big, you can do anything you can put your mind to, you can do anything you put your heart to. When we become adults we forget about that kid-like mentality that kid-like spirit and we lose it. What happens is we lose our dreams as well, so don’t lose your dreams. It this is your time right here, right now. Set yourself up for success.
The difference between being successful and not being successful is the difference between walking into your greatness and letting your greatness go. A lot of times we go through things in life and we start doubting ourselves. It’s easy to doubt yourself, it’s easy to be comfortable where you are and be complacent. The tough thing is to walk into something that you’re unfamiliar with, you’re unfamiliar with the level of responsibility. Something about responsibility is first responsibility starts as an opportunity. You have opportunities and we don’t allow ourselves to embrace our greatness, our success. We get down on ourselves, we talk negatively to ourselves we tell ourselves what we cannot do. If someone makes a comment about our level of success or us trying to reach a level of success, we take that and it becomes a part of us. We allow for that to dictate how we think about ourselves and how we look at ourselves. When someone gives me a negative comment, I say “You’re not for me, I’m not for you, moving on next person.” I don’t care who it is, it doesn’t matter to me because what matters to me is what’s inside my head.
Everything you do in life is about going through challenges, it’s not going through all the motions. It’s about never giving up, it’s about persevering through tough times because a lot of
times you’re gonna get kicked when you’re down. You’re gonna be down. That’s part of success and failure, but you’d rather feel successful than feel as if you were a failure because being a failure, feeling like you failed, does not feel great. What does feel great is being happy that you have opportunities. Once you have an opportunity, and you capitalize on the opportunity, the opportunity becomes a responsibility. When you have that responsibility, don’t shy away from your greatness and strive for that success.
