Love yourself first and the rest will follow.
Why do we practice loving yourself? And what does it have to do with Meditation?
Well, let me share something with you.
There are some people who love the material things in life more than anything else in this world.
Maybe it’s your car, your shoes, jewelry, a purse, or all of the above. If something happens to your precious possessions you lose your wits and you get upset.
You see, loving yourself encompasses you doing the things that help you and not doing the things that harm you. For example, if you love your car, you’re not going to put water or improper gasoline in the gas tank. You’re going to make sure that you put the right type of gasoline in your vehicle.
And the same thing goes for your body. So when you can love yourself, just as much as you love your possessions, you adopt proper nutrition and are conscious of what goes into your vehicle, your body.
When we love ourselves we do everything we possibly can to strengthen our mind, our body and our spirit. And when all of those are aligned, you realize the importance of carrying out your purpose.
When you practice a loving yourself meditation, you are creating and cultivating positive energy that promotes love and growth. With every inhalation during your meditation, I want you to think about breathing in love for your body and when you exhale let go of all the negative in your life whether it be emotions, thoughts, or whatever is going on that you feel is not loving energy.
For the rest of the week, I want you to take a five minute break once a day, and practice breathing in love and breathing out the negative.
I want to leave you with this quote from Pema Chödrön “Meditation practice isn’t about trying to throw ourselves away and become something better. It’s about befriending who we are already.”
Peace, OM and Namaste
