You may wonder how loving yourself is important and how it is important for meditation. Simply said, it’s important because half of the reason people don’t meditate is because they have difficulties spending quality time with themselves.
As you start practicing meditation on a regular basis, you begin to notice subtle changes within yourself, such as reaching a defined level of peace and tranquility.
When I first began meditating, I noticed there was a subtle calmness that I’d feel while I was meditating, but after my meditation ended, it would gradually dissipate.
I noticed that as I started meditating regularly, a feeling of peace and calm matured within and I became aware of that calmness lasting longer even after meditating. I developed a sense of peace.
And that is why learning to love yourself is so important. And the basis of loving yourself is gratitude. Gratitude is the attitude.
When you can show a level of gratitude, you are accepting and grateful for all your life experiences that you’ve had because they got you to where you are today. With every experience in life, good or bad, there is something to be learned that will help you on your journey in life.
Letting go of all daunting emotions and insecurities that keep you tethered down will empower you from the inside out. You just have to learn how to let them go.
So as you practice your meditation, remind yourself of what you’re grateful for. This will remind you to first love yourself and everything else will follow.
Peace, OM and Namaste.
